I set out to explore “How can AI be leveraged to conduct research and provide inspiration?” This project was not designed with AI. I believe it’s important to maintain integrity of design but wanted to explore how to best utilize AI tools in the design process.
I had the opportunity to intern at Wigwam Mills as a Product Design and Development Intern during Summer 2018. The biggest focus of the internship was to refresh colors for existing styles as well as design new styles.
My responsibilities included: rendering color and design options, leading color and design reviews with the Product Development team, requesting samples from the in-house sample maker, and making corrections and communicating to all.
For my senior capstone collection, I conducted preliminary market and trend research, developed my inspiration and designed four final outfits. I patterned, prototyped, and sewed all of the garments.
Senior Collection- LAY3R
Outside Lines was inspired by minimalistic design, geometric shapes, dimension, and the athleisure lifestyle.
I designed an extended collection that are essentially shapeless garments. They are meant to be oversized and provide comfort and warmth for throwing on when on the go.
This garment was made on a 5gg bulky knitting machine using acrylic yarns
The pickup technique was used in the extended cowl neck and on the rectangular pieces that were then added to the main body of the garment as an appliqué using hand stitching techniques.
